Chapel of the Emperor's Glory
Dominating the central chambers of the Dauntless, and acting as the threshold of the bridge, lay the baroque Chapel of the Emperor’s Glory, a golden, brilliant relic from a time well before the Age of Apostasy. A massive open chapel with simple, Astartes scale stone benches dominated by a statue of the Emperor in Astartes scale hewn from gold and palladium wearing what was once operational Thunder Warrior armor of unknown age and origin, holy Chainsword and sacred Bolter in hand. Above him is an ancient map of the Galaxy as the Emperor conquered, with Terra glowing as a bright emerald and its Sun as the brightest in the galaxy.
The walls are lined with shrines to fallen Space Marines, which vary in size from a simple tabernacle with a nameless Marine’s broken helmet at rest, to a large chamber full of shattered ceramite power armor hulls and detonated generator units from a variety of Marks and ages, a nighttime sea of Inquisitorial black and electroplated silver shards.
A quiet place maintained by the confessor-servitor Ezra, the Chapel is sometimes used for mission briefings, but most often quiet contemplation of the glory of the Marine’s service to the Emperor and the gravity of the Deathwatch’s sacrifice against the Xenos.
